The Ingredients

Makes up to 4 drinks (buy organic/local where you can)

  • 3 frozen bananas*

  • cream of coconut (available in the international aisle)

  • coconut water (get this brand - trust me it makes a huge difference in taste)

  • vanilla extract

  • honey (or sweetener of your choice)

  • spiced rum - my favorites: Bully Boy or Green Bar

  • ice

optional garnish: coconut shavings for rimming the glass, or set aside a few slices of fresh banana (not frozen)

*A note on freezing bananas - Let your bananas ripen to the point where they get brow speckles on them. This will make it sweeter as the sugar content is higher. Then peel before freezing. You can also buy frozen banana slices at the grocery store in the freezer section.

Kitchen Tools

  • Blender

  • Cutting Board + knife

  • Measuring cup

  • Measuring spoon

  • Cocktail jigger (optional)

  • small side plate for garnish

  • Suggested serving glass: highball, Collins, or pint glass

Cocktail Recipe

Makes 2 drinks

  • 1 frozen banana (roughly 3/4 cup)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup coconut cream

  • 3/4 cup coconut water

  • 4 oz spiced rum

  • 1/2 cup ice

*Honey & coconut shavings optional for garnish

Directions

  1. Prep your serving glass. Drizzle roughly 1 tbsp honey on a small plate, and place 2 tbsp coconut shavings on another small plate. Then roll the rim of your glass in the honey, follow by rolling it in the coconut shavings. Set your glass aside.

  2. In your blender (you can also use a food processor or NutriBullet) add frozen banana, spiced rum, coconut water, coconut cream, vanilla & ice. Depending on the desired thickness or slush factor to your drink, you can play with adding less coconut water and more ice.

  3. Pour into your serving glass and with a slice of banana. Enjoy!
