A Saturn Retrograde Mocktail for Soulful Self-Reflection
As we navigate the cosmos from our little blue planet, we're about to encounter Saturn retrograde on June 16th. So, I’ve crafted a Saturn-inspired mocktail to bring some grounded resilience during this cosmic phase.
Astro Herbalism, Saturn, and the Doctrine of Signatures
Astro herbalism associates plants with different astrological signs and planets, drawing insights from the Doctrine of Signatures. With this concept, plants often reveal their healing properties through their physical characteristics1.
Saturn, associated with discipline, time, and resilience, corresponds to robust, hardy herbs and plants that stand the test of time. Foods like root vegetables, sour and bitter fruits like lemons, and seeds are also linked with Saturn due to their enduring nature and longevity2.
Saturn's Herbal Allies
For our Saturn retrograde mocktail, we're focusing on three herbs associated with this planet: Horsetail (Equisetum arvense), Nettle (Urtica dioica), and Calendula (Calendula officinalis).
Horsetail is known to support bone and joint health[^3^]. It’s rich in silica, which strengthens the nails and promotes their growth, preventing brittleness and breakage. Nettle provides numerous benefits including promoting hair health[^4^]. It also contains vitamins and minerals that support hair growth and strengthen nails, promoting their health and vitality. Calendula promotes skin healing and rejuvenation, helping to improve the overall appearance and health of the skin[^5^].
Saturn Retrograde in Pisces
Saturn will be retrograde in the dreamy sign of Pisces, inviting us to dive deep into our spiritual side and emotional well-being. A retrograde phase is when a planet appears to be moving backwards from our perspective on Earth. It's a time for reflection and reevaluation, and with Saturn in compassionate Pisces, we are called to review our spiritual growth.
